RTD broke ground today on the Northwest Rail Line. This is for the first segment of the line going between Denver Union Station and the Westminster Station near 71st and Lowell. The first 6.2 miles has been funded by a public-private partnership called the Eagle P3 Project. The rest of the 41 mile line which is designed to go up to Longmont is still up for debate. The RTD Board decided not to seek a tax increase to as the plan was too vague and and would be too rushed to appeal to voters in NOvember. The construction on the wine bar next to Zengo in Riverfront Park is making progress. The liquor license was approved this week and every day it is starting to look more and more like a bar and restaurant. If all goes according to schedule, Al Lado will open by August! Al Lado, meaning “on the side” will be run by culinary master Richard Sandoval. If his past restaurants are any indication, Al Lado will be a new hot spot in Denver.
On Thursday, June 21st, Denver will join cities around the world for World Music Day’s Summer Event. Along the 16th Street Mall there will be music gatherings and free performances. Between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM grab your musical instrument and join others in making music along the mall. There will be over 90 performances on various stages located at Republic Plaza, Denver Pavilion’s Groove Stage, Independence Plaza, Skyline Park and Writers Square. This should be a fun event as Denver is alive with the sounds of music!
