Buying a Home is 44% Cheaper than Renting

In a recent study done by Trulia, renting is considerably more expensive than buying your home.  “Buying a home is cheaper than renting in all of the 100 largest metro areas,” according to Trulia.  The low mortgage rates are keeping home ownership affordable while low inventory for rentals is pushing rents up.  Depending on which market you live in, the benefits can vary.  For example home ownership was found to be 19% cheaper than renting in San Francisco and 70% cheaper in Detroit.  If you are currently renting, it would be worth a call to find out if if you could be saving yourself money each month while building equity in a home.  Call me for a free cost analysis.

It’s hard to believe that St Patty’s Day is this weekend.  If you are looking for something fun to do, head over to Riverfront Park’s favorite Irish Pub.  McLoughlin’s has events all weekend long.  They’ve expanded their restaurant by 2.5 times and the party is getting bigger too.  Starting tonight at 6:45, the Martin Percival School of Irish Dance will be performing.  On Saturday starting at 1:00 PM, come by to see Irish Bands, Bagpipes and more Irish Dancing.  Festivities will go late into the evening.  McLoughlin’s will do it all again on Sunday from 1:00-8:30.  Happy St. Patty’s day and don’t forget to wear your green.

Commuter Rail Canopy

The canopy for the heavy rail trains is coming along quickly.  This week the final pieces of the arches for the canopy structure was installed.  The commuter rail canopy is a focal point for the project.  Additionally, the square piece of land in the bottom left is about to break ground.  1650 Wewatta is going to be a 21 story apartment building developed by Holland.  It’s exciting to watch things change daily over there.

Balfour Cosmopolitan Club is starting

Balfour’s Cosmopolitan Club is about to break ground!  This is the land behind the Riverfront Tower and Promenade buildings that are currently a park and a surface parking lot.  The Cosmopolitan Club will be a high end Senior Living Community.  A metal fence was set up this morning blocking Bassett Circle at Little Raven.    Bassett Circle will be a dead end street for the duration of construction, starting at Bassett & Little Raven by Zengo restaurant. Access to the Promenade Lofts building and Riverfront Tower building garages will remain open through the north entrance of Bassett Circle.  It is exciting that construction is starting.  This project has been in the works for about 6 years.
