It’s hard to believe that St Patty’s Day is this weekend. If you are looking for something fun to do, head over to Riverfront Park’s favorite Irish Pub. McLoughlin’s has events all weekend long. They’ve expanded their restaurant by 2.5 times and the party is getting bigger too. Starting tonight at 6:45, the Martin Percival School of Irish Dance will be performing. On Saturday starting at 1:00 PM, come by to see Irish Bands, Bagpipes and more Irish Dancing. Festivities will go late into the evening. McLoughlin’s will do it all again on Sunday from 1:00-8:30. Happy St. Patty’s day and don’t forget to wear your green.
One of the restaurants on the Riverfront Park Plaza has grown. McLoughlin’s took over the retail space that Community Banks use to occupy. They reopened about a week ago and it looks great. The neighborhood bar is now 2.5 times the size and has two bars! A new and improved menu and a friendly staff make this a great place to hang out. Don’t forget about their 2 for 1 drink specials every day from 3-7. I hope to see you there!
Riverfront Park’s favorite coffee shop is expanding into the space next door. Everyone was sad when the NYC Deli closed it’s doors this spring, but Ink! is taking the opportunity to grow their business. They will be adding ice cream, shakes and malts. This is not just any ice cream either; they will be serving Little Man and Sweet Action Ice Cream. Two of Denver’s best! The official opening is 11:00 on Monday morning, but if you happen to be in the neighborhood on Sunday, they will be giving away free scoops of ice cream! Additionally, Ink! will be expanding their hours until 9:00 PM.
It’s that time of year again! Riverfront Park Fashion is coming August 11th. Benefitting the Denver Health Foundation, RFP Fashion 2012 is sure to be the hottest event of the summer. Incredible fashion hosted by Garbarini and Mariel. The food and drink is always amazing and I’m sure this year will not disappoint. Zengo, Happy Cakes and newcomer to LoDo Coohills will be providing the cuisine. Tickets are on sale now, and available at RiverfrontParkFashion.com.
The USA Pro Challenge bike race will be back for a second year this August 20-26th. As a part of the celebration, Denver-based artists have transformed 12 actual bicycles into pieces of art that will be placed along the route. Platte Forum’s former artist in residence Chris Hecker has designed one of these spectacular bikes. Each of the 12 bikes will be representing a country whose team is competing in the race. The bikes will be displayed at DIA on top of the baggage carousels in the month of August. When the exhibit is over, the bicycle representing the USA will stay as a part of DIA’s permanent collection and the rest of the bikes will be auctioned off to benefit local charities. Platte Forum is hosting a sneak peak of these bicycles and an opportunity to meet the artists that designed them. The reception for the USA Pro Challenge Bike Art is going to be held on July 25th. If you are interested in attending this event at Platte Forum, RSVP to Jeannie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The construction on the wine bar next to Zengo in Riverfront Park is making progress. The liquor license was approved this week and every day it is starting to look more and more like a bar and restaurant. If all goes according to schedule, Al Lado will open by August! Al Lado, meaning “on the side” will be run by culinary master Richard Sandoval. If his past restaurants are any indication, Al Lado will be a new hot spot in Denver.
Richard Sandoval Restaurants is opening a new wine bar connected to Zengo in Riverfront Park. It will be called Al Lado meaning “Next Door” as it will be attached to Zengo but also have its own front door. The location will be just to the East of Zengo where East West Partners Development office use to be. This new restaurant will seat 75 people and will have its own food and beverage menu. Al Lado is under construction now and expected to open 4th of July weekend. Stay tuned for more information.
The holidays are a busy time and it seems like there is a social gathering every night. If you are tired of baking and want to grab a great bottle of wine or need to pair wine with a delicious dinner, Little Raven Vineyards is there to help. Peter Klann, owner of Little Raven Vineyards, is a wine expert and always happy to help. He is a great resource and you will not be disappointed with his selection. It’s wonderful to have such a delightful wine shop right in the neighborhood.
After many months of anticipation, Riverfront Park has a new sandwich shop. NYC Central Park Cafe has opened in the space next to Ink! where Jay’s Parkside Cafe was located. I’ve eaten there a few times this week and it’s really good! They have a wonderful assortment of sandwiches, salads, soups, wraps and panini’s. So far, my favorite sandwich is “The Park Ave Turkey Club”. It is delicious.
