Denver Restaurant Week

It’s that time of year again that the best restaurants in Denver make a special menu to honor the mile high city.  For only $52.80 for two people or 28.40 for one, you can get a delicious dinner at one of Denver’s best eateries.  Denver Restaurant Week 2011 will be held for two weeks, from February 25 – March 09 and over 100 restaurants are participating.

This year I’m planning on trying Coohills for something new and going to one of my favorites Zengo.  I know that I’m biased with my office in Riverfront Park, but it never disappoints!  Click here to make your reservation.

Thursday 9/22, the Riverfront Park Social Club will host the third annual Movie Night.  A huge inflatable screen will be set up in the park behind the Riverfront Tower building.  Residents bring their comfy chairs or a blanket and enjoy free popcorn while watching a movie outdoors.  We will be showing X-Men: First Class starting at sunset.  This event is sponsored by the Riverfront Park Community Foundation.  This is a great way for neighborhood residents to meet, mingle and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.  I hope to see you there at 7:00, don’t forget that coolers are welcome!

15th Street Improvements

There are some big infrastructure improvements coming to the Lower Highlands.  The City and County of Denver and CDOT have combined two projects into one.  On Central Street, just across the highway from Riverfront Park, a 10-foot wide concrete bike/pedestrian trail will be built.  Currently, it is just dirt and weeds that exist on the East side of Central.  The new sidewalk and landscaping will connect 15th Street to 20th along with the Highland Bridge.  This will give the only three connections between the Lower Highlands and Downtown a much needed facelift.  Additionally, the 15th Street bridge over 1-25 will be completely rebuilt.  It will have much wider sidewalks and fences and lights that match those of the 20th Street bridge.  All of this work is scheduled to be completed by late 2013 and will cost approximately $23 million.

Manhattan Phase Two Update

The Manhattan Phase two is coming along quickly.  It will consist of 134 apartments between two five story buildings.  The common areas are set to include a lounge, fitness center, leasing office, bike storage and one level of parking below grade.  By the end of the month, the concrete foundation will be complete.  In the next few weeks the stairwells and elevator cores will begin coming out of the ground and framing is set to start in August!  The completion date is on track for June of next year.  James Linsley, president of GID Urban Development Group said, “We are thrilled to break ground and introduce a new style of urban living to this vibrant neighborhood. Ale House by Amato’s

A new restaurant just opened across the Highlands Bridge.  The Ale House by Amato’s is my new favorite lunch spot, I’ve been there twice in a week!  Their salads and sandwiches are incredible and the atmosphere is even better.  There is a bar, a restaurant and even a roof top terrace with incredible views of Riverfront and Downtown.  I know I’m a little biased about Riverfront, but I enjoy eating lunch with great views of my favorite condo buildings like Glass House and Riverfront Tower.  The Highlands continues to be a hot spot for new restaurants.  Check it out, it’s just a short walk over the highway.

New Surface at the Dog Park

The Railyard Dog Park opened last September giving the residents of Riverfront and LoDo a wonderful place to let their dogs run and play off-leash.  Unfortunately, the surface was made up of a bunch of gravel and rocks that were pretty hard of the feet of our four legged friends.  The dog park is run by Denver Parks and Rec and just last week they came and put a new surface down.  It’s now more sand than rock and I’m happy to say that the dogs and their owners are much happier.  I stopped by to check it out and found many dogs happily running and playing in the park.  If you’re dog didn’t like the old surface of the park, be sure to give it another try!
